Monday July 13:
Arnhem – Krefeld
We will depart from Arnhem at 09:30 as usual. We set sail for Krefeld where we will arrive early in the evening. The crew will introduce themselves to you on the way and you can get to know your fellow passengers.
Tuesday July 14:
Krefeld – Cologne
Cologne is one of the best-known cities on the Rhine. A city full of variety which has something to offer everyone. You’ll see beautifully decorated medieval churches with as the Kölner Dom (Cologne Cathedral) as a highlights but there is also some excellent shopping or you can enjoy one of the terrace cafes beside the Rhine. As far as museums go, it’s not only art that’s on show, you can also visit the Chocolate museum.
Wednesday July 15:
Cologne – Koblenz
The first wooded hillsides will appear on the banks in the morning, with the occasional fortress or ruin. We will arrive in Koblenz during lunch. The lively squares and alleyways in the inner town invite you to discover the centre. In addition to beautiful buildings and monuments there are many wineries with outdoor cafes and modern shopping streets.
Thursday July 16:
Koblenz – Rüdesheim
The panorama you will see this morning is fantastic. We’ll pass one fortress after another, and end the morning by passing the impressive Lorelei. We will arrive in Rüdesheim after lunch. This town is famous for its wines which you can of course sample in the Drosselgasse, the well-known street with many cafes and wine cellars. You can take the cable car up to the Niederwald monument where you will have wonderful views of the Rhineland-Palatinate area.
Friday July 17:
Rüdesheim - Speyer – Iffezheim
Speyer is one of the most beautiful towns on the Rhine. The townscape of this Imperial Town is dominated by the centuries’ old Roman cathedral. Passengers interested in all things technical can visit the Technical Museum near the city centre. This is a unique chance to spend the afternoon among trains, antique cars, planes, submarines and motorbikes. We will sail to Iffezheim during dinner and will stay overnight near the lock.
Saturday July 18:
Iffezheim – Strasbourg
As soon as we moor in Strasbourg we are on French soil. You will have a chance to explore the inner town after lunch. You can sign up on board for a shuttle bus to the centre of Strasbourg. In this lively town you can see a beautiful gothic cathedral, the old town district of La Petite France and interesting museums.
Sunday July 19:
Strasbourg – Breisach
Very soon the first foothills of the Black Forest will come into view. To get you into the mood we will serve you a delicious slice of Black Forest gateau with afternoon tea. We will arrive in Breisach towards the end of the afternoon.
Monday July 20:
Breisach (whole day)
After breakfast the coaches will be waiting to take you on a free day excursion through the beautiful Swiss countryside. This tour is one of the highlights of this cruise. We will show you various highlights of Switzerland. And of course it’s not complete without a visit to Luzern. Early evening you will be back on board with lovely photos and fully satisfied by all the beautiful things you have seen.
Tuesday July 21:
Breisach – Kehl
We leave Breisach early for Kehl. The Rhine here forms the border between Germany and France. Just opposite the French town of Strasbourg is the small German town of Kehl where we arrive during the afternoon.
Wednesday July 22:
Kehl – Mannheim
Following the stream we leave the Rhine at Mannheim to moor in the mouth of the Neckar river. It’s only a short walk to the city centre from our berthing place. In the afternoon you have the opportunity to visit the university town of Heidelberg(*). Here you can visit the castle or walk around the centre of this town.
Thursday July 23:
Mannheim – Boppard
We continue our voyage on the Rhine to the picturesque wine town of Boppard, positioned among the vineyards of the Bopparder Hamm. We certainly recommend a ride by cable car to the Gedeons Eck where you will have splendid views. You can of course enjoy the floral town.
Friday July 24:
Boppard – Düsseldorf
It’s only a short walk from the landing stage in Düsseldorf to the inner town. After lunch you can take a pleasant walk past beautiful buildings and monuments interspersed with lively outdoor cafes. Shopping enthusiasts can also indulge themselves here. There are shops in abundance in the Altstadt. This evening there will be a magnificent firework show.
Saturday July 25:
Düsseldorf – Arnhem
This lovely holiday is almost at an end. We leave Düsseldorf early and set sail for the Netherlands. We will arrive in Arnhem at 14:00 and say goodbye to you.
