Monday 9 July:
Arnhem - Krefeld
Boarding this new holiday takes place as always in Arnhem. We depart Arnhem at 09:30 and sail through the Ruhr district towards Krefeld. We will arrive here at the beginning of the evening so you will have the opportunity to take an evening stroll.
Tuesday 10 July:
Krefeld - Cologne
We weigh anchor very early so we’ll be in Cologne on time. You will get to see the most important sights of Cologne during a guided tour(*). Late in the afternoon you will have plenty of time to visit the Dom (Cathedral) or to walk through the shopping streets in Cologne’s Altstadt (Old Town)
Wednesday 11 July:
Cologne - Andernach - Winningen
By the end of the morning you will notice the surroundings are becoming more hilly and soon the first mountains of the Siebengebirge will appear. During lunch we will moor in Andernach where we will stay until the beginning of the evening. We continue our journey and at Coblenz we turn at the Deutsche Eck onto the Moselle. We will moor at Winningen for the night.
Thursday 12 July:
Winningen - Zell
Today is spent admiring the Moselle. During the afternoon we will arrive at Zell. This Moselle village is idyllically located in one of the most beautiful and largest bends of the Moselle, the Zeller Ham. Wine lovers immediately think of Zell for its Schwarze Katz vineyard. A black cat can also be found as a monument in the wine village’s market place.
Friday 13 July:
Zell - Bernkastel
Bernkastel is also famous for its Moselle wine. The characteristic half-timbered houses in the centre give the town an intimate atmosphere. You will get a good impression of this historic town and its surroundings during a guided tour of Bernkastel(*).
Saturday 14 July:
Bernkastel - Traben-Trarbach
After breakfast the coaches will be ready for the free day trip to Saarburg and Saarlouis, two picturesque towns positioned on the Saar, a tributary of the Moselle. During dinner we continue to Traben-Trarbach. The symbol of this town is the Brückentor, a finely sculptured gate leading on to the Moselle bridge.
Sunday 15 July:
Traben-Trarbach - Cochem
A visit to Cochem is something not to be missed on any Moselle cruise. The lively market place with half-timbered houses and small shops give the town centre a romantic feel. You can sign up on board for an excursion to the Reichsburg(*). You will get wonderful views of Cochem and the Moselle Valley from high up at this castle..
Monday 16 July:
Cochem - Boppard
In the morning we are still on the peaceful Moselle as far as Coblenz. It’s here that we enter the part of the Rhine that is known as the romantic Rhine. There are many ruins or fine castles in the wooded hillsides, such as the Ehrenbreitstein castle in Coblenz. At about lunch time we will moor at Boppard, a town in the Bopparder Hamm, an area with more than 75 hectares of vineyard.
Tuesday 17 July:
Boppard - Rüdesheim
On our way to Rüdesheim we pass by the Lorelei in the morning. After passing this legendary rock it won’t be long before we arrive in Rüdesheim. This renowned wine town is famed for its many wine bars, historic half-timbered houses and the Drosselgasse. You can enjoy a delicious Riesling from the region in one of the lively Weinstuben in this narrow alleyway.
Wednesday 18 July:
Rüdesheim - Mainz
We will arrive in Mainz at about midday. You will find many historic buildings and monuments in the town centre. The oldest and most famous is the Mainz Dom, a Romanesque cathedral built of red sandstone.
Thursday 19 July:
Mainz - Coblenz
On our way to Coblenz you will once again enjoy a beautiful panorama. Lively Coblenz, positioned on both the Rhine and the Moselle will certainly appeal to you with its quaint shopping streets and pavement cafes. The Deutsche Eck with its statue of Emperor William I or the Ehrenbreitstein fortress high up above the town are just a few of the sights that Coblenz has to offer.
Friday 20 July:
Coblenz - Düsseldorf
We will arrive in Düsseldorf during the afternoon. In the Altstadt (Old Town), often seen as Düsseldorf’s beating heart, you can sign up for a city tour(*). In this way you get to see the most important sights in Düsseldorf. Tonight there will be a firework display at around 22:30.
Saturday 21 July:
Düsseldorf - Arnhem
At around 14:00 we will arrive at our home base in Arnhem. Here we take our leave of you and wish you a safe journey home.
