Privacy Statement

Feenstra Rijn Lijn attaches a lot of importance to personal data protection. This Privacy Statement is aimed at providing clear and transparent information on how we handle personal data.

We do everything possible to guarantee your privacy and, therefore, treat personal data with care. Feenstra Rijn Lijn complies with the applicable laws and regulations in all cases, including the General Data Protection Regulation. In any case, this means that we:

    Personal data we collect

    At Feenstra Rijn Lijn we collect and process the customers’ and suppliers’ personal data for the following purposes:

    If you make a booking with Feenstra Rijn Lijn

  • Gender, first name, prefix, surname and date of birth of both the lead passenger and all those travelling with them;
  • Address details (street, house number, postcode and town/city) of the lead passenger; Contact details of the lead passenger: telephone number(s) and e-mail address;
  • Relevant medical information and special requirements provided by you such as a diet or relating to a disability (preferences and essentials for your booking);
  • Telephone number and (if applicable) name of someone at home we can contact in the event of an emergency. You are responsible for informing the person(s) in question that we have their details.

    In some cases, the following additional information is required:

  • If you sail on the Danube, you will be asked for your passport details (we never need your social security number);
  • If you use mobility aids when travelling (such as a walking frame or wheelchair), we may ask you to fill in a form and provide information about the aid(s) in question;
  • Your bank account details if, for example, a refund has to be made in connection with a failure or complaint;
  • If a booking includes children, we will ask for written statement from the parent(s). In a number of cases, a copy of the parent or guardian's passport will be required.

    If you visit our website

    Functional cookies: such as session and login cookies to store session and login information.

    Analytical cookies: to gain insight into visits to our website based on information about visitor numbers, popular pages and topics. This helps us to better align our communication and the information we provide to the needs of our website visitors. We cannot see who visits our websites or from which PC the visit takes place.

    CraftSessionId Expires after the browser is closed; necessary for the website visit. Google Analytics

    We use Google Analytics to improve the quality of the site. The data we store for this is anonymous and we do not share it with other users of Google Analytics or Google services. IP addresses are also masked. Below is an explanation of the different cookies:

    _ga Expires after 2 years; to distinguish between users.

    _gid Expires after 24 hours; to distinguish between users.

    _gat Expires after 1 minute; to limit requests to the Analytics server.

    HotJar

    HotJar is also a tool that improves the performance of the website and also stores visitor information. This data is anonymous, and we do not share it with other HotJar users. Below is an explanation of the different cookies:

    __hstc Expires after 2 years; to distinguish between users. __hssc Expires after 30 minutes; to follow a user's session. __hssrc Expires when the browser is closed; to start a surfing session on Feenstrarijnlijn.nl. __hjIncludedInSample Expires after 1 year; this session cookie tells HotJar whether the session is used as a sample.

    We process personal data provided by you for the following purposes.

    To contact you

    We use your details (street, house number, postcode and town/city), telephone number and e-mail address to contact you if:

  • You have made a booking;
  • You have requested information from us;
  • You have registered for this newsletter;
  • You have taken part in a competition;
  • You have submitted a complaint.

    To arrange the trip you have booked

    We use your personal data to confirm and arrange the trip you have booked.

    The following details will be used for this:

  • Gender, first name, prefix, surname and date of birth of both the lead passenger and all those travelling with them;
  • Relevant medical details and special requirements provided by you such as a diet or in relation to a disability;
  • Additional details provided by you regarding your mobility and/or health.

    Personal data of your travel companions

  • We will use third-party personal data provided by you; for example, of people on your booking because you are going on holiday together.
  • If you provide the personal data of third parties, you have to be sure that they agree to this and that you may provide this information. If applicable, also make sure that they understand how we may use their personal data.

    Processing of personal data of prospects, stakeholder- or lobby contacts and/or interested parties

    Feenstra Rijn Lijn processes the personal data of prospects, stakeholder/lobby contacts and/or interested parties for the following purpose(s):

  • To provide information in the form of newsletters and/or targeted contact.

    The basis for this personal data is:

  • Oral permission, provision of business card;

    Feenstra Rijn Lijn may request the following personal data from you for the above purpose(s):

  • First name, prefix, surname;
  • Telephone number, e-mail address.

    Processing of employees’ personal data

    Feenstra Rijn Lijn processes employees’ personal data for the following purpose(s):

  • The performance of the employment contract.

    Feenstra Rijn Lijn may request the following personal data from you for the above purpose(s):

  • First name, prefix, surname,
  • Street, house number, postcode and town/city;
  • Telephone number(s), e-mail address;
  • Date of birth;
  • Salary details;
  • Copy of ID;
  • Social security number;
  • Bank details.

    Provision to third parties

    We may give the information you provide to third parties if this is necessary to fulfil the purposes described above.

    Purposes for which we use a third party:

  • To take care of the website’s internet environment;
  • To arrange your trip on board the ships;
  • To provide the financial administration;
  • To send the brochure and invitations;
  • To create newsletters and invitations.

    We never pass on personal data to other parties with whom we have not concluded a processing agreement. Needless to say, we make the necessary agreements with these parties (processors) to guarantee the safety of your personal data. Moreover, we shall not give the information you provide to third parties unless we are legally required and permitted to do so. An example of this is a request to provide personal data to the police in the context of an investigation. We are required to cooperate in such cases and also to provide this information. In addition, we may share personal data with third parties if you give us written permission to do so.

    Within the EU

    We do not provide personal data to parties located outside the EU.

    Minor children

    We only process the personal data of minor children (persons under the age of 16) with the written permission of the parent/carer or legal guardian.

    Storage period

    Feenstra Rijn Lijn does not store personal data for longer than is needed for the purpose for which it has been provided or is required under the law.

    Security

    We have taken appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unlawful processing. This includes the following:

  • All persons that can learn of your personal data on behalf of Feenstra Rijn Lijn are bound to secrecy with respect thereto.
  • We use a username and password on all our systems;
  • We pseudonymise and encrypt personal data if there is cause to do so;
  • We make backups of the personal data in order to be able to restore them in the event of physical or technical incidents;
  • We test and evaluate our measures regularly;

    Rights regarding your details

    You have the right to see a copy of the personal data we have received from you and to have it amended or removed. You always have the right to submit a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, which is the supervisory authority when it comes to privacy protection.
